History of LIFE HK - by Wesley N. Taber, Global Ambassador, Executive Director Emeritus of LIFE International

“If you want God’s blessing on your ministry, care for the Jewish people.” The missionary who counseled a young pastor, Mr. Woo Yan Tak, with these words back in the 1940s could not have anticipated their impact.

A godly man committed to careful exposition of the Bible, Mr. Woo cultivated God’s heart for the Jewish people in multiple generations of Christians. Some went on to serve in leadership positions in churches and schools elsewhere in the world. Mr. Woo went to be with the Lord in 2005, but his influence continues in the many lives touched by his shepherding and teaching.

Evidence of this spiritual legacy is found in the prayer groups a number of Hong Kong congregations formed specifically to uplift the spiritual and physical needs of the Jewish people. Partnerships were formed with sending agencies such as Life in Messiah International for the advance of the gospel to Israeli and diaspora Jews. Individuals from Hong Kong engaged in short-term ministry teams and sought practical ways to demonstrate God’s love to Jewish people.

In June 2014 an organizational committee made the decision to pursue incorporation of Life in Messiah in Hong Kong. On June 5, 2020 Life in Messiah International (H.K.) Limited 國際彌賽亞生命差會(香港)有限公司 received its Certificate of Incorporation and Business Registration from the Hong Kong government. With its global partners, LIFE HONG KONG desires to fulfill our mission statement: “Sharing God’s heart for the Jewish people.”
